Since I typically workout in the early evening, I usually have a mid-afternoon pre-workout snack of a protein bar and a piece of fruit. Lately though, I’ve been wanting something less processed than a protein bar, but just as satisfying. I found the answer to that problem in these peanut butter protein balls! They’re SO yummy, and filled with protein. Using a natural sweetener like honey and natural peanut butter helps keep the sodium and processed sugar content down, making these all-natural treats an A+ snack. This yields 15-20 balls depending on how large you make them.
1.5 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup ground flax seed
1 T chia seeds
1/3 cup honey
1/2 cup cacao nibs (mini chocolate chips will also work)
- Mix all ingredients together in a bowl thoroughly.
- Form into 1-1.5″ balls
- Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to one week.
